About this site
A preparedness site is only worth something if you can trust it. Here is who is behind it, where the advice comes from, and how errors are corrected.
Who is behind it
Beredskapsplanleggeren.no is run by a private individual, with no ties to authorities or commercial actors. The site is free, without ads, without tracking and without collecting personal data beyond what is described below. Contact: post@beredskapsplanleggeren.no.
The sources
The advice on this site is not our own judgement. It is based on official Norwegian sources, and in any conflict the sources take precedence:
- DSB – The Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection – The preparedness advice, quantities and checklist.
- Norwegian Institute of Public Health – Boil notices and drinking water.
- Norwegian Food Safety Authority – Food, shelf life and water.
- Meteorological Institute / Yr – Weather warnings.
- NVE / Varsom – Flood and landslide warnings.
- DSA – Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority – Iodine tablets.
- Norwegian Civil Defence – Shelters and evacuation.
How content is updated
The date at the bottom of each page shows when the content was last changed. The advice is reviewed against the sources whenever the authorities change their recommendations – as when DSB extended the advice from three to seven days in 2024. The calculator quantities are indicative and based on DSB's figures; the additions for children, pets and heating are conservative estimates and labelled as such.
Found an error?
Email post@beredskapsplanleggeren.no with a link to the page and what is wrong. Errors in safety-critical advice are corrected as quickly as possible, and the correction is date-stamped.
No commercial ties
The site has no advertising deals, no affiliate agreements and receives no payment from shops or manufacturers. Links to price comparison services are included because they are useful, not because anyone pays for it. Should this ever change, it will be clearly marked where the links appear.
Privacy in brief
The site uses no cookies and no third-party tracking. Your choices in the calculator and checklist are stored only locally in your own browser and are never sent to the server.
Two things are stored on the server: anonymised visitor statistics from our own self-hosted analytics, and questions asked to the chatbot “Losen” – without names or other identification – so the answers can be improved.
